Ghanaian singer Sefa has called on players in the entertainment industry to treat female artistes with greater respect and professionalism.

In an interview on Okay FM, the “Echoke” hitmaker urged disc jockeys and presenters to stop making sexual advances toward female musicians before offering them support or professional opportunities.

Sefa explained that although she has not personally experienced such situations, she is aware that several women in the industry have faced similar challenges. According to her, when she first stepped into the music scene, most of the men she worked with treated her like a younger sister, which protected her from such uncomfortable encounters.

However, she emphasized that it would be wrong to assume the problem does not exist, noting that many female artistes have openly spoken about dealing with such behaviour.

The singer believes the situation can improve if men in the industry adopt a more respectful mindset and begin to see female artistes as family rather than approaching them with sexual intentions.

She also addressed the issue of male dominance in the Ghanaian entertainment space, suggesting that media platforms and presenters often give more promotion and visibility to male artistes compared to their female counterparts.

According to Sefa, creating equal opportunities and showing respect to women in the industry will help foster a healthier and more supportive environment for female talents.
